Oliver is a German born UK trained Clinical Psychologist. He has a special interest and expertise in Body Dysmorphic Disorder (BDD) and Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD). He has worked at various national BDD and OCD clinics such as the Centre for Anxiety Disorders and Trauma (CADAT) at the Maudsley and the Anxiety Disorders Residential Unit (ADRU) at the Bethlem (recently featured on Channel 4’s Bedlam series). Oliver is currently the lead psychologist and programme manager of the Obsessive Disorders Department at the Priory North London, which forms part of the national NHS Highly Specialised Services for people with severe and complex BDD and OCD that require inpatient care.
Before completing his doctorate in clinical psychology at the Institute of Psychiatry at the Maudsley, King’s College London, Oliver carried out a PhD at the same institution. Oliver always keeps up with the latest therapy developments in BDD and OCD; he has regularly spoken at national and international conferences and published several peer-reviewed articles. He collaborates closely with Dr David Veale and is currently working on various case studies focusing on OCD and BDD.
Oliver is accredited with the British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies. He supervises senior CBT therapists and trainee clinical psychologists, and also teaches CBT to other professionals. Oliver has also facilitated BDD support groups, and helped to raise awareness of BDD through teaching of General Practitioners and psychologists working in primary care.
Oliver collaborates in a gentle and warm fashion with his clients to help them overcome their difficulties and move towards their valued goals. Oliver is bilingual and able to conduct treatment in English and in German.
